Metabolic disease, any of the diseases or disorders that disrupt normal metabolism, the process of converting food to energy on a cellular level. Thousands of enzymes participating in numerous interdependent metabolic pathways carry out this process. Metabolic diseases affect the ability of the cell to perform critical biochemical reactions that involve the processing or transport of proteins (amino acids), carbohydrates (sugars and starches), or lipids (fatty acids).

Metabolic disease they are in trend since past 20-25 years mainly because of hypertension, diabetes, cholestrol. Now These disease are becoming incurable, many people just go on taking medicine throughout their life.I have seen thousands of people struggling throughout thier life. The reason are not taking appropriate action and depending only on medicine. The Adequate changes should be made till the time you reverse your metabolism otherwise it will keep contiuning same.the metabolism depends upon many things and has some many effective by which the metabolism gets affected.

Thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland situated in, front part of neck below larynx i.e. the voice box. This gland makes thyroxine hormone T3 (Total or Free Tri-iodo Thyronine) & T4 (Tetraiodo Thyronine).

These two hormones are under control of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating hormone) which is secreted from pituitary gland in brain. The above Thyroid hormones control many of the organ’s function.

When Thyroid hormone is increased in blood then it is called thyrotoxicosis (Hyperthyroidism) & when these hormones are low i.e. decreased in blood it is called Hypothyroidism (Myxoedema) & when thyroid hormone is normal in blood it is called Euthyroid.Thyroid gland size may increase than normal then it is called goitre (normal size is 2 cm wide & 2 cm. long).

Hypertension is one of the most common human diseases. It affects more than half of the population older than the age of 50. Affected patients will not know about their hypertension and less they have a routine or screening blood pressure taken. Some patients will learn of their conditions upon suffering a major complication such as heart failure, kidney failure or a stroke. That is the reason why hypertension is regarded as a silent killer. The disease occurs usually between the ages of 40 and 60. Any occurrence at an earlier or later age should trigger medical investigations of another condition causing the hypertension. The most common symptoms of uncontrolled hypertension or headache and neck stiffness.

The classical symptoms of diabetes are excess thirst, excess urination, weight loss inspite of good eating, weakness, fatigue, leg pain, easy fatigability, decreased vision, recurrent itching deposition of whitish deposits & fissuring on glans pennis & foreskin in men, itching in & around vulva, difficulty in healing of wound so that wound may not heal for long time. Sometimes patient may have sugar for long time without their knowledge & they manifest directly with various complications of diabetes. Thus patient may directly present with complications of diabetes as burning & numbness in feet (nerve involvement), chest pain or breathlessness (heart involvement), decreased vision (eye involvement), selling over feet or body (kidney involvement) etc.

Remember many patients with Diabetes are asymptomatic i.e. they have no symptoms & they are diagnosed only when they go for routine blood sugar test during routine investigations for some other problem, then it was found that their blood sugar is high. Sometimes patient’s blood sugar may become too high leading to coma (Diabetic ketoacidotic coma due to high blood ketone, Ketone is an acid which is produced when blood sugar becomes very high due to severe insulin deficiency.

Dyslipidemia is an abnormal level of cholesterol and other lipids, also called fats, in the blood. Lipids (fats) are important for life. They are important component of the living cells. However, high levels can increase your risk of getting a heart attack or heart disease.

Below are the desirable levels of blood cholesterol for most adults over the age of 20. However, the cholesterol goals might be different depending on your risk for a stroke or heart attack.

The most common goals are:

  • Total cholesterol: Below 200 mg/dL
  • HDL cholesterol:Men – above 40 mg/dL; Women – above 50 mg/dL
  • LDL cholesterol:Below 100 mg/dL; Below 70 mg/dL for people with diabetes or heart disease.
  • Triglycerides:Below 150 mg/dL

The most common types of high cholesterol (dyslipidemia)

  • High levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad”) cholesterol
  • Low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL or “good”) cholesterol
  • High levels of triglycerides

When LDL cholesterol levels are high, fatty deposits (called plaques) can build up in the arteries, the blood vessels that carry blood from the heart throughout the body. Over time, plaques narrow the arteries, producing atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). This can cause heart disease, heart attack, peripheral artery disease (reduced blood flow in the limbs, usually the legs), or stroke.

Harmful consequences due to obesity: In long run it may lead to diabetes, heart problem, blood pressure, joint pain, fatigue, psychological consequences as depression, anxiety, social avoidance behavior & many more consequences.

Polycystic Ovary Disorder (PCOD) problem is a hormonal disorder in women defined by a group of signs and symptoms. PCOD problem is one of the most common reasons for infertility in women. This health condition can cause problems with a woman’s menstrual cycle, cardiac function as well as appearance. Women who have polycystic ovary have multiple small cysts in their ovaries that occur when the regular changes of a normal menstrual cycle are disrupted.

PCOS occurs not just in women, but in girls as young as 11! Polycystic ovaries are generally larger in size and denser than the normal ovaries. It usually occurs when the sex hormones go out of balance and the body starts producing more male hormones resulting in the onset of several symptoms.
