When I was a young boy, there were 3 words that my mother said to me each morning, seven days a week, 12 months a year ...., she would say I love you. Those three simple words are the most important words I ever heard from my mother so for me please always honor the ones you love because I wish my mom was here to see what she has birth right here check me out at the site below or just Goggle my name (ChefHermano), in any search engine , here is my main site below and if you would like to buy one of my personally signed cookbooks please email me at Lhermano@aol.com or leave a message here Thank you Chef Hermano.

Fibromyalgia

I don't often complain publicly. In fact, I pride myself daily on mentioning my pain or discomfort as few times as I can possibly stand. Today though, I feel like shouting out how sick of it I have grown. Since, however, that would probably make me look like I'm just f*ing insane, here's an image. We'll call it art therapy.

Every day I wake up feeling the exact pain I tried to ignore in order to fall asleep the night before. I face either judgement or teasing for the hour at which I'm finally able to get myself moving. By the time the pain is under control, (and only thanks to miraculous pain... well, I hesitate to call them pain "killers" so I'll go with pain softeners), I have about two or three hours to make the most of my day before it comes back. The headache I have right this moment has been with me every waking hour of every day since three weeks ago when I was in Newark, with the exception of one afternoon.

I accept work in small freelance jobs, one at a time, while my family, friends and boyfriend hold me up in the meantime. This started eight years ago, and after an infuriating journey through multiple healthcare providers and hospitals including everything Eastern, Western and in between, this has only gradually deteriorated. Eight years ago it was annoying. Six years ago it made my college years pretty difficult. Four years ago the health care started getting pretty expensive and became a pretty big financial burden, and the pain had spread to over three-fourths of my back. In the last two years, which have been the worst as far as this is concerned, it has cost me a big apartment, then the smaller apartment... followed by the job, car and finally, now, the rest of my belongings. On average, half of every one of my weeks I have pain from the base of my skull through my shoulder, spine, ribs, hips and down to -- at the very worst moments -- even my knees. I lay there wondering what kind of things I could be doing, how I could be contributing to the world if I could manage to have a "normal" day. Then someone on the couch next to me moves and pain engulfs all of my senses for a moment because my body is so sensitive.

I don't share all of this so I can have pity. I have more joys every day than I bet a lot of people I know do. I feel the happiest emotionally that I have in years. What I do hope to do is raise awareness, or reach out to others in this situation and send the message that some random stranger out here understands.

Now, a note about the image. I don't have the rights to use this image for commercial purposes, and am placing it only on Flickr as a means of raising awareness... like I said. That means that you have even less of a right to use this image, since I have added artwork and text to it which I own. So just an FYI... copyrights and all that stuff.
